The logic is irrefutable, of course. Organized "religion" is the most spectacularly successful con in history!

Religion poisons everything ~ Christopher Hitchens

We are all born atheists.

Let's pretend for a moment that the Bible never existed - and I gave out a few today to people.... they would roll their eyes and snort in derision, shake their head and call it science fiction then chuck it in the garbage.

Why did god murder his son Jesus Christ, when he could have murdered Satan? What a shitty god.

Why did god let Hitler murder 6 million Jews? What a shitty god.

Why did god allow slavery in the United states? What a shitty god.

Didn't god murder Jesus to take away the sins of the world- why do we have to keep praying, going to church, reading the bible, giving money to the church, why does the church keep telling us we are still sinners, that we are born sinners. Wasn't that debt already paid?

Ummm.....🤔...... It's almost as if there is no god.... just some archaic superstitious bullshit from ancient people 3,000 years ago who lived in a 25 mile radius in a tiny section of the world, not traveling too far because they might fall off the edge, raising their sheep and living in huts.

Christians declare that their god is all-knowing ("Not a sparrow shall fall", and so on.)

So he creates man and woman, puts them in paradise and tells them not to eat from the one tree.

He's all surprised and angry when he realizes that they ate from the tree, kicks them out of paradise, and condemns them to death.

And he apparently has a real fit over it, 'cuz all other living things get death sentences, too.

Seems harsh for a being that should've seen this coming. And who, by the way, is also supposedly a loving father to us all.

Guess I lost the narrative there, somewhere.

Hence why it is the death cult..... eating the body of Christ and drinking the blood of Christ during Eucharist. Geez, that almost sounds pagan. But don't you go out to the woods to do that, they will call you a witch.

Deeply missing is any kind of love in MAGA's Blond Jesus cult. Trump as a God of Love is really stark.

Couldn’t agree more. Religion is a grift of your money and your mind. Just read today that the Catholic Church in LA just had payouts of $1.9 billion for sexual abuse. And the church attendee’s paid the money so the church could pay for the abuse. If this isn’t fucked up thoughts and prayers, I don’t know what is.

Let’s just say I’m reminded of this on a regular basis. I try not to spend a lot of time thinking about it - my mind is pretty well made up at this point, and short of a flaming bush engaging me in conversation, I doubt I’ll be changing it. I’m just as smugly certain of my non-belief as any religious person is Jesus loves them.

I agree Comic. The original con was when someone figured out they could control others with fear and magical thinking. That person was the first preacher. Religion was born. Why do people blieve magic about a situation instead of logic? I think it's because they are soothed by those thoughts. And it helps them cope with bad times.

Commit as many sins during your life, including robbery pathological lying, murder, rape, incest and prolific adultery, but if you repent before you die all will be forgiven. However take the ‘lord’s’ name in vain and die unexpectedly and suddenly and you’ll be cast into hell for eternity. I’ve heard that if a newborn baby dies without being christened it won’t get into heaven. All these ‘teachings’ are apparently from an all seeing omnipotent and omnipresent god, who allows children to die of leukemia, starvation and be tortured by pedophiles, allows wars to bring about devastation and millions of people to die. But don’t forget folks, he loves you and according to the Catholic Church wants your money.

Indeed, the more I think about and question various things and occurrences in our world, the less the concept of God and religion makes sense to me. Plus, there's just so many contradictions.

Believing in pixies, fairies, or magical sky-wizards is the exclusive domain of children or the profoundly mentally deficient.

Basing your life on the purported "teachings" of a magical sky-wizard is just plain stupid. I am not able to have any respect for such people. Maybe Santa will bring them a brain if they were good this year.

I am a follower of Jesus teachings so of course I feel some trepidation at liking many of your posts. I look at the Old testament as a lesson in what does not work, And why. I pay very little attention to the New testament with the exception of it's in red attributed to jesus's words. I still think there are some that were either misconstrued in translation deliberately or by misunderstanding, or maybe just changed to suit the narrative. My favorite quote this when Jesus do you not know ye are all gods? I think we are but many of us don't know it. And for some maybe it's good that they don't. But for the rest of us, I wish we knew power we have and understood how to use it. I think we're learning. And I don't think you have to believe in a God or even believe Jesus to be a god yourself. I do believe in heaven and in hell, but only has it applies to my day-to-day life here on earth. Some moments are heaven and some are torture. Love to you!

I agree, De. I think of Jesus as a simple philosophical teacher. Thr idea that we should love our neighbors as ourselves is the core message I have internalized. The rest is simply at statement of oral histories based on myth and superstitions.
